Virtual “Lunch & Learn” on Tuesday, August 10th at noon
SafeLots: A New Approach to Helping People Experiencing Homelessness People in our communities are experiencing homelessness at record levels, and the ending of the eviction moratorium in Colorado will only exacerbate this trend. Several congregations in the Metro Denver area are helping meet the needs of one group of these folks – those who are living in their vehicles and aren’t receiving help through the traditional shelter system. Eleven congregations in Aurora, Arvada, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Golden, and Longmont are hosting overnight “SafeLots” in partnership with the Colorado Safe Parking Initiative (CSPI). Join us on August 10th at noon to hear from CSPI leaders about how safe parking works and whether it might be an option for your community. Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler will facilitate a conversation with journalist and author Helen Thorpe and former Colorado State Senator Michael “Mike” Johnston of Gary Investments about what Whites can do to support racial justice. The panelists will also respond live to questions and comments from online participants. Thursday, August 12 at 7 p.m. MT.
