Welcome Wesley Moncrief, the CCC’s 2022-23 Social Justice Fellow

Wesley Moncrief (with a friend’s dog)

Hello Everyone,

My name is Wesley Moncrief. I’m currently in the second year of a Master of Social Justice and Ethics degree at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. Prior to moving to Denver in January 2021, I lived in Mississippi and earned an Undergraduate in Psychology from Mississippi State University. I am originally from Mississippi, but I spent most of my childhood living in Wiesbaden, Germany, attending all of middle and high school there, as well as living for about 6 months in Chiang Mai, Thailand. One major outcome of that time spent overseas was witnessing a much more diverse world that exists outside of my own scope, and I developed a desire to see a world that embraced and celebrated that difference.

When I returned to the United States, it felt like a place that had all the pieces to express that reality, but hadn’t quite put them together, often due to design of those in power. Because of that, my current aspirations are to engage meaningfully with policy to address systemic racism, poverty, and other mechanisms that have been manipulated to separate us. I look forward to meeting and working with you all to meet those goals!
