We thank Rev. Heidi McGinness for blessing us with this Lenten Reflection!
Scripture reference: Esther 12:14-16, 23-25; Psalm 138:1-3, 7c-8; Matthew 7:7-12
“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.”
This Lent as we accompany Jesus to His Cross, we will be deeply troubled, horrified by the suffering and death He will endure for the salvation of the world. We will agonize with Him, and at the same time, we will become profoundly grateful for His consummate, self-sacrificing love for us.
As we accompany Jesus to His Cross, we will also experience our own trials, or the trials of a person or community we love; unexpected sorrows, danger, betrayals or gut-wrenching challenges may visit us.
Good to remember in our mortal anguish to soak up today’s readings that ASSURE us that the Lord will help us, He will not forget the work of His hands; His Right Hand will save us. So go ahead. Knock on His door; seek Him out. He’ll be there. That’s His promise. The African Christians I have partnered with for many years in war and peace EXPECT God to deliver them; how about us ?
Most Holy Blessed God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, like Esther, I’m going to lay prostrate before You. I’m going to worship You, praise You, knowing that You will deliver me when I seek You and knock on Your door.
