Building Public Will to Address Homelessness
The Colorado Council of Churches has been awarded a grant by The Denver Foundation to help build public will to address homelessness. In the Foundation’s last listening campaign, community members reported far too high a prevalence of unmet basic human needs, a problem that particularly affects individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Yet these challenges remain unknown to many Metro Denver residents.
To address these c…hallenges, the Foundation is supporting a network of diverse stakeholders who care about people experiencing homelessness. The Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence will work together on this effort with the Colorado Council of Churches and Family Tree to increase understanding, encourage engagement, and identify actions and strategies that will lead to changes that prevent and end homelessness.
Our team will also work closely with other teams across Metro Denver on this public will-building campaign including, Warren Village, CBS/Channel 4, Bank of the West, Community College of Denver, Women with a Cause Foundation, Mile High Behavioral Healthcare, Aurora@Home, and Aurora Chamber of Commerce.
A number of groups are partnering with The Denver Foundation to provide leadership and support for this effort, including community members with experience of homelessness, Community Solutions, Denver Homeless Out Loud, The Governor’s Office of Homeless Initiatives, the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, Metro Denver Homeless Initiative, and Metro Mayors’ Caucus.
We look forward to sharing more with you about this public will-building campaign to address homelessness in Metro Denver over the coming months. To learn more, contact Amy Miller, amiller@ccadv.org or (303) 831-9632 ext 812 or Adrian Miller, adrian@cochurches.org or (303) 825-4910.
